Welcome to the Solar Resource Mapping for South Africa
The primary objective of the Solar Resource Mapping for South Africa (SRMSA) project is to develop a high resolution solar atlas that will provide precise knowledge of the geographical spread and temporal variability of the three solar radiation components: Global Horizontal Irradiation (GHI), Diffuse Horizontal Irradiance (DHI) and Direct Normal Irradiance (DNI) in South Africa.
Near real-time data:
In addition to solar radiation components, variables such as air temperature, wind speed, direction, pressure and relative humidity are measured. The SRMSA project is funded by the Department of Science and Technology and implemented by the South African Weather Service (SAWS).
